Replication starts automatically when a protection plan is created, following its configured start time and interval. Use the plan's Actions menu on the source site to start or stop replication explicitly — for maintenance windows, bandwidth management, or onboarding sequencing.
Start replication
Open the Start wizard
From the plan's Actions menu, select Start.
Provide a reason
Enter a valid reason in the Reason dialog — it is recorded for the audit trail.
Select VMs and start
Select the VMs to replicate and click Start Replication.
Stop replication
From Actions → Stop, choose one of two modes:
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Allow Running Replication to Complete | Ongoing replications finish first; replication stops once the selected VMs or plan reach a completed, failed, or partially completed state. |
| Stop Replication Immediately | Halts replication instantly, even mid-transfer. |
Provide a reason, select the VMs, and click Stop Replication. If only some VMs in a plan are stopped, the plan status becomes Partially Running, and stopped VMs show Replication Enabled: No.
Monitor progress
Replication activity is visible at three levels under Jobs → Replication — per protection plan, per VM, and per disk — including changed and transferred bytes, data reduction, duration, and sync status. The status vocabulary (init-success, in-sync, exceeded interval, and the rest) is documented in Status check.
